Baked Ziti with Pork Ragu

Ingredients:
  • 12 ounces Swift Premium® Ground Pork
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 cups bottled marinara pasta sauce
  • 8 ounces uncooked ziti or penne
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (6 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (1 ounce)
Cooking Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400º F. Lightly oil an 11"x8"x2" baking dish or 2 1/2-quart shallow casserole; set aside.
  2. Brown pork with Italian seasoning, fennel seed, garlic salt, and red pepper in large skillet over medium-high heat about 4 minutes or until pork is no longer pink, breaking pork in to large crumbles. Stir in sauce.
  3. Meanwhile, cook pasta in large saucepan of boiling salted water until tender but still firm to bite. Drain well. Combine egg, ricotta, 3/4 cup mozzarella, and the Parmesan cheese in large bowl; stir in cooked pasta.
  4. Spoon half of the pasta mixture into prepared baking dish; top with half of the sauce mixture. Repeat layers. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella.
  5. Cover with foil and bake in oven for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue baking about 5 minutes or until instant-read thermometer inserted near centers reads 160°F and cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
